James Shanahan — The Lawyer
“Always Reading The Fine Print”
James Shanahan
Jim Shanahan enjoys Cincinnati. He holds B.A. with honors from Xavier University and a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Upon graduation, Jim practiced law in Cincinnati before joining a local investment firm, Pacholder Associates. Along with William Morgan and James Gibson, Jim Shanahan and his team have focused their investment and research efforts exclusively on high yield and distressed investments, since 1986. Prior to joining JP Morgan in 2005, Jim was working in the same role, with the same team at Banc One. Jim is currently Managing Director and portfolio manager for distressed, special situations and collateralized bond obligation (CBO) portfolios for the Columbus/Cincinnati High Yield Team.
With his legal background and extensive experience in high yield securities, Jim is always reading the fine print. His understanding of corporate workouts and reorganizations allows him to manage risk and seek out opportunities for reward in the bond market. When Jim sees something that he enjoys, he sticks with it. We’re glad to have Jim in Cincinnati. We are also glad to have his experience and wisdom as one of our selected Bond Money Masters during this volatile period for our economy and our financial markets.
